Post COVID-19 world
We are indeed living in difficult times and the world would no longer be the same place where we lived before. The COVID-19 has demonstrated who true HEROES are, those leading from the front. If you look at it in hindsight the once called ‘Blue collar’ jobs have now become essentials. There are myriad of people working tirelessly to provide what we need ranging from food to medicines in the safe vicinity of our homes, nurses and doctors treating the ill, journalists still delivering the news updates from the ground, police ensuring lockdown and the list of the Super-heroes goes on.
Yet there are people who don’t shy away from spreading hatred, playing political cards and what not. And not to mention tablighi jamaat and patiala incident. SHAMEFUL!
This also gives us an opportunity to remodel and reshape the world we live in. I strongly advocate few pointers that I would want to see:
1. Peace: I hope the countries would realize the importance of human life and tension between nations would seize. This would also mean a huge saving on the defense budget and this money could be used to tackle other important issues like education, health care, Infrastructure development etc.
2. Pay disparity: The COVID-19 situation has proved that no job is less important rather the once perceived blue collar jobs, these are the people running the country now. And there are millions of people who have been effected the most- the daily wage workers, it’s unimaginable what those people and their families must be going through. I strongly advocate the minimization of pay disparity between the rich and poor. I would like to witness a society where the rich and poor could eat in the same restaurant.
3. Education: I know there are many programs already in place yet they don’t seem to be much effective. More and more efforts and thus budget should be invested to make sure no kid is deprived from education, irrespective of their socio economic status.
4. Healthcare: No one should die due to unaffordable healthcare. The entire healthcare needs a huge revamp so that not a single life is lost and everyone should get a good healthcare.
I know there are million other issues to be tackled and resolved. However firstly the basic issues needs to be addressed. Let’s try to rebuild the nation from the scratch and hope for a better place to live in.
